Hemavathi Dam: A Marvel of Engineering and Lifeline of Karnataka

The Hemavathi Dam is a gravity dam, a structure designed to withstand the force of water by utilizing its own weight. Standing at an impressive height of 58 meters and stretching across a length of 469 meters, the dam boasts a storage capacity of approximately 37 thousand million cubic feet (TMC). Its reservoir extends over an area of about 10,000 hectares, serving as a vast water repository for the region.


Water for Irrigation:

One of the primary purposes of the Hemavathi Dam is to provide water for irrigation. The reservoir created by the dam has transformed the agricultural landscape of the region, enabling farmers to cultivate crops throughout the year.
